I expect this post raises more question marks than periods. Not every conclusion here is firmly held by me, but the observations most definitely are.
We are all guilty of it.
We read the Bible, and our eyes breeze right by certain points which would challenge our biblical construct of reality. Some bits just don’t fit our sermons, and we conveniently don’t notice. Yet every now and then one or two of these bits stand up and demand attention, and they challenge our views calling for repentance.
One of the main passages that ever does that for me is Luke 1:53: Mary’s prayer, right near the start of the whole book, helps to frame everything that follows. This verse, especially the second portion of it, is so easily glossed over. Of course, it fits well with other summary observations…
